Happy Valentine's Day!

Our red-happy decorations!

Annick made a lovely chicken dinner
and sweet potatoes, and we had a
cran-ras salad, bread, and an Annick
dessert creation :)

Some heart-shaped candles from Mama,
and a mailbox of kisses from Grandpa and
Grandma D, were a few of the special treats
we enjoyed.

Happy Valentine's Day
to all our friends and family!

Life with the Jasters...

Josiah is in charge of filling capsules and
organizing everyone's vitamins and supplements.
His favorite color is orange, and his favorite
hat happens to be in that color!

Both Josiah and Nehemiah love games, and they
really enjoyed 'Mr. Mouth' even though the batteries
were about to give out and we had to help Mr. Mouth
turn his head :) Monopoly is another favorite, and
Josiah is quite the property manager!

No heat + no lights = some blog news!

We had a 'surprise' 'celebration' on Wednesday,
as we got ready to say "hello!" to February.
Our heat and electricity went kaputz yesterday,
and we quickly emptied the freezers of perishables,
like meat and ice cream, and packed them up into bins
and toted them outside to the front porch where
it was -10 below. N-'ice' :)

Lunch and dinner were cooked on a propane flame
and the top of the woodstove, and the oil lamps were lit.

A Few Thoughts from the Day:

Papa: Hmm, I should get that generator fixed...
::
Mama: It is nice and toasty by the woodstove,
I'm staying here today!
::
Allison: They say:'Cold hands, warm heart',
my hands are really cold...
better take some pictures for the blog!
::
Annick: Never thought my reading light would
double as a headlamp, but it works!
::
Evvie: Oh, no! What are we going to do
about the horses' water?
::
Catrina: Ahh....this is the life...
sitting by the woodstove with a book!

The power came on at 4:30-ish for about 20 minutes,
just enough time to wash the dishes, flush the toilets, etc.
and then it went off again until 7-ish, and has stayed on since.

The furnace is still off, so it is chilly in the house if you aren't
by the woodstove. Our Friendly Furnace Man, Mr. Bendixen,
is helping Papa with some ideas on how to fix it.

So... with our furnace off and a snow storm supposedly
on it's way, we'll be batting down the hatches and staying indoors :0)

Catrina's Report

We spent the last Wednesday
in January,
with no electricity.

Annick found this small propane stove
that we use to make lunch and dinner with!

Since we didn't have any light, Annick
found these oil lamps in the basement with her
reading light attached to her hat!

I had to finish reading by lamp light! What fun!
Anyone want to take a guess at what I was reading?

SIGNS!!!

What could these signs in the snow mean?
"Fresh Cinnamon Rolls"?
"Deliver Warm Weather Here"?
Take a guess!

A hunting we will go...

After orchestra, we almost brought home some
mighty fresh venison....but it got away after leaving
behind a dent and a tuft of hair :o)

Music Practice!

Our family music practice, graciously hosted
by the Alessio family, meets bi-weekly,
and we all enjoy an evening of laughs,
music, and fellowship.
We hope to give some concerts,
and minister to some nursing
homes in the near future.
