We had a 'surprise' 'celebration' on Wednesday,
as we got ready to say "hello!" to February.
Our heat and electricity went kaputz yesterday,
and we quickly emptied the freezers of perishables,
like meat and ice cream, and packed them up into bins
and toted them outside to the front porch where
it was -10 below. N-'ice' :)
Lunch and dinner were cooked on a propane flame
and the top of the woodstove, and the oil lamps were lit.
A Few Thoughts from the Day:
Papa: Hmm, I should get that generator fixed...
::
Mama: It is nice and toasty by the woodstove,
I'm staying here today!
::
Allison: They say:'Cold hands, warm heart',
my hands are really cold...
better take some pictures for the blog!
::
Annick: Never thought my reading light would
double as a headlamp, but it works!
::
Evvie: Oh, no! What are we going to do
about the horses' water?
::
Catrina: Ahh....this is the life...
sitting by the woodstove with a book!
The power came on at 4:30-ish for about 20 minutes,
just enough time to wash the dishes, flush the toilets, etc.
and then it went off again until 7-ish, and has stayed on since.
The furnace is still off, so it is chilly in the house if you aren't
by the woodstove. Our Friendly Furnace Man, Mr. Bendixen,
is helping Papa with some ideas on how to fix it.
So... with our furnace off and a snow storm supposedly
on it's way, we'll be batting down the hatches and staying indoors :0)
