The New Sofa-Bed :)

A highlight this week was having our new sofa-bed delivered on Tuesday! It is a pretty, light sage color, the cushions are nice and firm, and the bed is much better. :) We retired the faithful brown one on Grandma and Grandpa's request; it really was very old and rather flat.  Posted by Picasa

Sermon on the Mount- Lew & Melodie Sterrett

The Sermon on the Mount team made their annual stop in Michigan at the Imlay City Fairgrounds. We always look forward to their coming, and this year Mr. Sterrett used Shahaar in some of his evening presentations! (A big 'thank you' to Mr. Sterrett and Ben for introducing Shahaar to the beginning of a relationship!) Annick and Evvie were part of the barn staff and took care of the pony and horse rides after the evening sessions.
It was a week full of preparation, work(11 horses), visiting and laughs, for Annick and Evvie as they enjoyed the fellowship of the SOTM team and the others who worked in the barn.
Mr. and Mrs. Sterrett are a wonderful husband-and-wife team, as they bring God's truths to everyone they meet. Mrs. Sterrett has trained her miniature horse, Spitfire, to spell his name and answer questions. He is quite the cute little guy! Posted by Picasa
Mr. Sterrett showed that his horse Romeo had complete confidence in his owner by having a whip cracked above his head while lying down. Romeo also sat on his haunches on command, because he fully trusted in Mr. Sterrett's care.

After Mr. Sterrett's sessions, there were horse and pony rides, a barrel train, a draft horse wagon, and live music by the Bendixen brothers and Bullinger brothers in the concession barn.

Mr. Sterrett taught on how everyone needs to give their heart to God, not just fix their attitudes or put a mile on their faces. To illustrate these truths, he used his horses Spotlight and Spark to represent meek and mature Christians, Jennifer Bullinger's horse Banner, and Evvie's Shahaar,to represent those who are willful, proud, and selfish, which is the case of every human before salvation.

After Shahaar became used to a saddle, Mr. Sterrett's assistant, Ben, mounted Shahaar for the first time and rode around the arena.

Summer with the Lapeer Civic Orchestra!

The LCO performed its summer concert last evening. We played a variety of stirring music from patriotic to Leroy Anderson's Blue Tango.
Miss Wendy Case was our concertmistress, and she played the beautiful violin solo in Ashokan Farewell. Visit the
orchestra website to find out the details for our next concert in October!

A Day with Ponies

On Thursday we had a visit with a family from California. They have two daughters, Emma and Hannah, and they came out to our house to visit our ponies. Emma is 9 years old and the big sister, she really enjoyed taking care of Princess. Hannah is 8, and has come to Michigan for some surgery on her thyroid. She had fun grooming Sonny Boy. Both girls enjoyed their pony cart rides :)  Posted by Picasa

An Afternoon at the Hyslops

The Hyslop family graciously invited the families from church to spend an afternoon at their homestead. The weather was beautiful, and we all enjoyed our time together! Thank you Hyslops! The Marshalls had a great time!

Three little 'uns had dinner at an outdoor table. L to R: Kathryn DeL, Jordan Hyslop, Philip DeL.

Jacob Hyslop played some real toe-tappin' tunes on his banjo for us. Felt like we were down south sitting on the verandah and relaxin' :) Posted by Picasa
Papa and Mr. DeL joined Mr. Hyslop on some rip-roarin' 4-wheelers!
