Pictures!

Now please don't fall over with relief that we are back in the blogging-business, just relax, sit back, and enjoy the posts. :)

At The Eddy's

Last weekend, the Eddy family invited us over for a bonfire and fellowship. so we bundled up and headed out! Unlike much of the weather we've been having, that evening was a little chilly, which made the fire feel real good! We talked and laughed and ate some delicious desserts. Theresa made a pineapple upside-down cake and we brought brownies (The Marshalls always bring brownies. And actually, people depend on this tradition we've started. Really.).

Bay View Log

June 23
We packed up the van, and headed up to the Bay View/Petosky area, for a much-needed family respite. Grandpa and Grandma DeRoo lent us their Fern Hill cottage for the weekend, so of course we just had to go!

June 24
The first part of the day was spent in downtown Petosky, visiting some shops, and the Crooked Tree Art Center where Mr. Hosner has some paintings displayed for sale. We then drifted towards the park to hear some music. One of the guitarists palyed and sang a song called "Brother, Where Art Thou?" and had to put on a beard so we could all get the full effect.
Th afternoon was spent in the Bay enjoing the cold water!
After a dinner of homemade lasanga, it was "out oars" for Charlevoix! The evening was then complete, as we walked along the water eating chocolate-dipped ice cream cones!

June 25
On Friday we hopped in the car, and headed for Interlochen to visit our good frinds the Vineckis! We visited the History of Music Museum (very highly recommernded by the Marshall Clan Family Board) along the way, and enjoyed it immensely! There were all kinds of automated instruments in this museum, which specializes in these artifacts, such as player pianos, nickelodeons, victrolas, and a huge dance hall organ.
After spending a quick hour listening to all the instruments, we quickly got into the van and soon reached the Vinecki residence! Mrs. Vinecki served a delicious lunch, and they headed out to the Sleeping Bear Dunes with us in tow. The kids ran most of the way up and the adults (I consider myself an adult at this point) ascended in an adult fashion, which was more deliberate, and gave time to look at the view several times. We climbed up to where we were in sight of Lake Michigan, and rested for awhile before descending. The descent claimed only two adults ( I am not an adult at this point), everyone else trotted/ran. Papa and Mr, Vinecki, who had Nick on his shoulders were the fastest I think. We piled into the vehicles and visited some of the points along the paved trail, and then headed to a park. After climbing a STEEP dune, the kids split into baseball teams at the park, and the younger ones were entertained by Alice on the playground. Once home, an old record was pulled out and we were soon paired up with young'uns and commenced to dance in the livingroom! A dinner of pizza and sweet fellowship, was followed by a Mexican-polka presentation by Olivia and Julia, which was then followed by a video-taped Jewish dance, complete with kids in Jerusalem outfits! This... was... quite... a... busy... day....zzzzz

June 26
On Sunday we visited Jim Larsen's church, and then we came back to the cottage, did some cleaning, packed up, and headed home.
We are so grateful to have had a little time away together as a family!

The Graduates

Sarah DeL and I took Annick, Carol, and Theresa to the Hadley Park for some graduation-picture posing! I don't know who had more fun; we, the photographers, in posing the girls, or the girls as they tried to make each other smile naturally....
Here is a black-and-white photo of the Class of 2005.

Father's Day 2005

On Father's Day we had Grandpa Marshall over for a meal, music, and best of all...gifts and dessert!! We girls played our recital pieces for The Fathers, and then watched them open their gifts. Grandpa received some books and homemade shortbread, and Papa received some clothes, a garden cart, and a 'Gods and Generals' DVD. Very exciting! Dessert was a frozen chocolate pie made by Annick.

Laurie's Recital

As a family, we enjoyed going to the Character Inn, in downtown Flint, for Laurie Matheson's senior recital and open house. Her presentations were beautiful, and consisted of different piano pieces, selections on violin and viola, and a very moving speech presenatation about a pianist whose fingers were maimed during his innterrogation by Nazi officials and how he overcame his pain and deformity, by God's grace, the prayers and dilligent work of his wife, and his own perserverance, to continue his work as a professional pianist.
Congratulations Laurie! :-)

Anna and the Ponies

Mr. Hosner brought his 3 yr. old granddaughter, Anna, over to see Annick's ponies, and to go on a pony ride. We think she enjoyed herself, and the things she learned about grooming ponies!

Evvie and Catrina participated in their piano teacher's (Mrs. Dianne Wilson)recital and performed very well indeed! Evvie played "Midnight Rhapsody", Catrina played "Fondest Memories", and together they played a duet arrangement of "God Bless America".
